Growing the Game of Tennis Since 2012
Summer Smash Tennis started at Kerrisdale Community Centre with just over 100 students in its first season. Today, we operate year round at community centres, schools, and First Nations with over 2000 students each year. Through the use of our unique progression, students are given the technical foundation to excel as players for life.
Our Story
Co-founders Spencer and Marshall Mackoff started Summer Smash with the goal of creating high-quality public programs that would give students the ability to develop the technical foundation needed to inspire a sustained love for the game.
Off the court, Spencer is a teacher with a concentration in English and Media, while Marshall is a lawyer specializing in Labour & Employment and Commercial Litigation. Together, the brothers shape Summer Smash using the knowledge, expertise, and best practices that they have developed through their professional careers.
Our mission is to grow public tennis in Vancouver with a commitment to excellence and equity.
We are dedicated to creating inclusive and lasting tennis communities where players of all ages and backgrounds can access expert coaching in a positive environment. Through our programs and initiatives, we aim to break down barriers to tennis, promote diversity, and ensure that the sport is accessible. At Summer Smash, we place a strong emphasis on small class sizes, a focus on technique, and a warm community vibe.
Partnerships with First Nations
Summer Smash Tennis works with Squamish Nation and Tsleil-Waututh Nation to provide tennis programs to youth and adults. This on-going capacity-building project works to provide sustainable opportunities for tennis to Indigenous communities in Vancouver’s Lower Mainland.
